Valentines Day on February 10th?

The story we share today is not a sappy, googly-eyed, twitterpated, love story. It is a story of a love that God had determined would not end. Shawna and I had been friends for a year or so when we started dating. We dated for several months, during which we both graduated, got jobs, and moved to West Virginia. Shortly thereafter, she terminated our dating relationship (she dumped me). We remained friends after the break-up, but because the continual contact we had was driving me crazy, I decided to sever all ties with Shawna, with the exception of seeing each other on occasion at church on Sundays. After a several months and other events transpired (details neglected for brevity), Shawna called me. It was the middle of the night. She was calling me to see if, perhaps, we might be able to give our relationship one more try. Despite both of our attempts to do so, we could not stop loving one another. There was always something there tying us together. To make a long story short, we got back together and are living happily ever after. The date of this reunion was February 10th. Therefore, Shawna and I no longer celebrate Valentines day, we celebrate February 10th, a day that we both remember as a day that we each made one of the best decisions in our lives (my decision was a few days later, but you get the point).

There is another love story that is even better than this one. It is the story of God's love and how the Father sent the Son to be the savior of the world. The Bible says "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) If you do not know Christ, if you have not accepted Him as your personal savior, and would like to know more. email me and I will be happy to talk to you about it (danemcclaflin@hotmail.com).
