Blueberry Picking
We made a spontaneous trip to a you-pick-em blueberry farm on Monday. We went with our next door neighbors and found that this place was just loaded with blueberries. I have never seen so many blueberry bushes in one place. We picked and brought home about 9 quarts of the little fruits and probably ate another quart (they said it was OK). Niamh, as you can see, figured out how it worked and ate enough of them that it was evident later, if you know what I mean. (It was also evident that he ate a couple of stems too.)
Conlin went from person to person asking "Will you put some berries in my bucket?" To which everyone replied "No, you are just going to eat them." But eventually our neighbor folded like a cheap chair and put some in. He did, by the way, know that he was allowed to pick them and eat them. He just thought it more novel to eat from a bucket I think.
Alina was a good little picker (and eater) too. She actually accumulated quite a few in her bucket (with a little help from daddy). Our neighbors picked about 16 quarts before they came home.
We left them picking and went to a nearby state park and had a picnic, hiked around and saw some waterfalls, got ice cream, and played Frisbee for a while. After we got home, I asked Conlin what his favorite part of the day was and he replied "seeing that waterfall." It is fun to me that our kids really appreciate the beauty God puts around us.
