Happy Birthday Alina & Conlin

Zeroth Birthday

First Birthday

Second Birthday

Third Birthday

It is hard to understand why our God does what He does, but we just pray for a peace that only He can provide while we wait for Him to reveal His will to us. When our children were born, we did not know what God had in store. The doctors told us we would likely lose Conlin at birth and Alina's well being was in question too. The night that Shawna and I learned all this was tremendous as our Gracious Father gave us such peace that we were able to say in our hearts "not our will, but yours be done." And He gave us each a night of peaceful sleep (well me anyway, Shawna was awoken periodically by nurses through the night, but she was at peace in her heart too).

I just want to thank our Heavenly Father above for allowing us to have Conlin and Alina. In December 2004, Con and Lina (as they call each other) entered this world with a bang that made it hard to envision a first birthday and this week we were blessed with being able to celebrate their third. As you can see with the pictures, they are growing up!

Happy Birthday! Wow- I can't belive they're 3.

So another friend of mine is currently pregant with twins- a boy and girl (Justice and Ruby) and she is at 37 weeks. She is crazy huge- but only the belly. She sleeps 9 hrs at night and sleeps 2 hrs during the day and "parents" from a chair. She isn't bedridden yet though. They have her scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks!

I'm only the grandmother, but I could swear that both of those premie pictures are Conlin.

If you look closely at the top one you will see that the air tubes are going into Alina's nose and on Conlin's, the air tube is going into his mouth. Alina never had to be intubated (tube down throat)and only had nose tubes (CPAP), while Conlin was intubated for a long time.
