Conlin Update: Doing Well
Conlin is doing well. His surgery was successful. Both hernias were repaired. The lower one was difficult because of a large amount of scar tissue, but it is fixed. He is recovering well.
It took a couple of hours for the "weird feeling" of the anisthesia to wear off. After that feeling was gone, he felt much better and was a little more like himself. In the recovery room we started him on some clear liquids. After that we progressed to milk. And by evening he was ready for some good solid food (i.e. chicken strips and mashed potatoes). Through the night he slept very well despite the crying of his roommate who apparently had a much more serious surgery. (Speaking of which, I think we should all pray for the family we shared a room with. The little girl was 2 or less and was just miserable.)
This morning he had some french toast sticks, some sausage, and applesauce. We were discharged from the hospital around 9:00 am. As soon as we got home, Shawna hopped in her car and ran to the dentist to have an emergency root canal performed. She was miserable almost the whole time we were there because she has a tooth that is causing her a great deal of pain, so please pray that he feels better soon too.
Conlin is now sleeping peacefully in his own bed, as snug as a bug in a rug. We thank and praise our Lord and Savior for his mercy and healing hands. We thank all of you for your prayers as well.

Thanks for the update. I'm so glad it all went well. Good luck to Shawna.
So glad to hear it went well! Hang in there Shawna, I would say it's not a good day for a root canal, but I'm not sure there ever is a good day for a root canal. We'll be praying for swift recovery for all.
Oh it must be so hard to see your baby in pain and all that hospital gear on! I'm glad he is ok.
Ugh- root canal! I've never had one- just impacted wisdom teeth removed. The anesthesia they used made me a cry baby when I woke up- I just cried and cried and wanted to hug my mom. So if they use the same anesthesia Shawna, don't feel bad if you're weepy!
