More kid news:

There are a couple more things that I failed to mention about the kids as well as some new developments. First of all, I forgot last time to mention that Conlin has begun signing "more”. He is also signing “all done”, which his sign is different from Alina’s and different from the real thing. If you can not see the video, makes a fist with each hand and flips his thumb back and forth over his first finger.

We made a trip to the endocrinologist Tuesday for Conlin. They weighed him and his new mass is 7.38 kg (16.25 lb.). We were a little disappointed at this weight at first, but then the doctor came in at the end and spoke to us. She said that she is very pleased with his weight gain and, in fact, she would not want him to be any further ahead than he is. The rate at which he is going is a good one. (Background note: Our pediatrician told us a few months ago, that if Conlin didn’t catch up by the time he was 2 or so, she might recommend giving him growth hormones. We were not at all keen on this idea.) She went on to say that, in her opinion, there is a “fad” now of giving kids growth hormones to help them “catch up” to the normal size of other kids their age. She said that Conlin will likely qualify for this hormonal assistance, but she will likely not recommend such a course of action. She said that part of her bias is likely because she doesn’t think being shorter than others is all that bad (she, too, is vertically challenged). So, we are thankful for both Conlin’s healthy weight gain and our levelheaded, albeit short, doctor.
