Father's Day Camping

This weekend we went camping with all three of the kids and our friend Preston (so make that 4, just kidding Preston). The second we got to setting up camp the kids loved the tent and wanted to go in. In fact, as Preston and I were sliding in the first two poles, the tent rose from a pile into the shape of the tent and before we could even finish setting those two poles, Conlin ran into it with excitement.

Conlin and Alina did rather well sleeping in the tent at night, except the tent was at a bit of a slope. So my initial setup of puting them, one at each end, in the same sleeping bag wasn't working too well, because every half hour or so, I would wake to the sound of Alina wimpering sleepily. When I turned on the flashlight and looked she had slipped slowly out of the sleeping bag and head first into the corner of the tent. After restoring her to her original place 2 or 3 times, I decided to put them side by side and fold the sleeping bag from their feet up to their heads instead of across their bodies. That worked well for the rest of the night.

They just loved playing around camp and being outside, zipping tent zippers and running in and out. They also greatly enjoyed the chocolate and grahm crackers from the s'mores.

Niamh liked the whole trip too!

While we were at the state park we went to, we went out for a hike with all three kids in kid carrying backpacks. All three of them fell asleep for some portion of it. (Thank you Preston for saving me from carrying 2 kids at once). It was a fun weekend and a great Father's Day!
