Cherry Blossoms in D.C
We had the pleasure of visiting our nation's capitol yesterday during the cherry blossom festival. We had our great tour guide, Preston showing us around and giving us all the facts. We decided we could not pass up the opportunity to take the kids on their first train ride, so we took the Metro. They loved it.
The cherry blossoms were beautiful. Did you know the first ones planted were a gift from Japan? We walked around the tidal basin between the Washington Monument and the Jefferson Memorial.
The kids did very well. We decided we would head over to a Smithsonian museum, but before we got too far it became obvious the kids were done. So, we headed for the Metro to go back to Preston's house. The metro ride in was an easy one, but on the way back out of D.C., it was extremely crouded and made us a little nervous, but we made it just fine. It was still better than driving down. It was a great little trip.
