The Creek Trail

A few weeks ago we went and explored a place near us we had never been. It is a hiking trail that follows a creek. We had heard about it a number of times, but had never taken the time to check it out. Then, Shawna, in her garage saling, found a kid carrier backpack for 50 cents. This made it feasible for us to go hiking again since Alina grew out of the snugli you see Conlin in in this first picture. Since he is still pretty small it still works well for him.

So, this trail follows a little creek through the woods. It was a hot day, but since the entire trail is shaded by the trees, it was nice and cool. Along the way we discovered a very large patch of black rasberry bushes and had a little snack. The kids liked them too as you can see Alina eating some out of my hand from behind me in her pack. Entertaining the kids in these packs was not difficult. Part of the time they would just look around at their surroundings. The rest of the time, if you just gave them a leaf or a flower, they were content. Alina would eventually shread her leaves and flowers and would need replenished, but Conlin just hung on to the one you see him pictured with here. He waved it with pride and vigor as if it was his family crest on a flag.

Toward the end of our hike, Alina played a little bit of peek-a-boo with her hat as seen in this picture and movie. It was a fun little hike. We will likely do it again.
